Our Mission

Capital Edge Theater is a Veteran-founded, 501(c)(3) theater initiative based in Fort Washington, MD, dedicated to cultivating community creativity and individual empowerment through the performing arts.

Where Creativity Reigns Supreme

Yes, Adults SHOULD Play.

We have found it increasingly difficult to find places where we are encouraged to try new paths for growth.... to play, or to explore spaces where we are invited to share low-stakes/high-reward common goals and problem solve together through creative outlets.

That's why we're here.

Capital Edge Theater is a process focused, explorative initiative that strives to establish an environment of welcoming PLAY.  That's the beauty of theater- there really is some facet of stagecraft for all types of personalities and strengths, ranging from outward performance to craftsmanship to backstage operations.

Come spend a day, a season, or a lifetime learning with us at Capital Edge. â€‹â€‹

Our Pillars

Cultivate Community Identity

Advance the development of local culture and strengthen interpersonal connections by leveraging theatrical productions as a dynamic platform for fostering civic pride and deepening community engagement throughout Fort Washington.

Collaborate with local businesses, civic groups, and educational institutions to align theater programming with community goals, increase visibility, and create mutually beneficial opportunities that support economic and cultural vitality.

Equitable access

Reduce ticketed paywalls and financial barriers to both participation and attendance, allowing equitable access to transformative art experiences.

Accept each individual where they are—welcoming voices and contributions across all mediums of expression—and provide a safe, affirming space for self-discovery and storytelling.

Promote Creative Action

Leverage the founder’s military experience to model accessible, mission-driven leadership, equipping participants with tools for both artistic and personal development.

Offer ongoing workshops, mentorship, and programming that emphasizes process over product, encouraging artistic risk-taking to foster innovation and ingenuity. â€‹

Provide opportunities to Veteran communities, representing as the first Veteran founded and operated theater in the DMV.

Would you like to learn more or get involved?

We welcome all levels of experience, in all mediums.
